All of these pieces begin with a remnant from the ancient Eucalyptus trees that have lived and died on Scotland Island, NSW, for many thousands of years.

They bare all the scars of an extreme existence.  Drought, fire, lightening, termites, all contribute to the tree’s demise and yet something still remains. Their very existence is a legacy to the resilient nature of all things. There’s an honesty to them. I think they offer clues to how we may live a more meaningful life

Using traditional finishing techniques over the past twenty years in the antique world has afforded me the knowledge to enhance the inherent beauty, scars and all, in every intricate detail of these beautiful timber relics.

It’s a fascinating journey that begins with a chance meeting in the bush. We get to know each other and there’s a childish playfulness that naturally seems to find its own resolution.

Characteristics of both our personalities reflected in the final piece.

My hope is to foster a greater love, awareness and respect for country and in so doing, help inform the decisions we make to prosper with it.
